Dorsal surface of segment 1 dark greyish brown; segments 2 and 3 dark greyish brown, with pair of lateral, ovate, yellow spots on 2, and larger triangular yellow markings on each side of 3; segments 4-7 nearly black, with paired yellow markings covering most of each segment (markings triangular on 4 and 7, rectangular on 5 and 6). Ventral surface of abdomen brown except for small orange-yellow patch placed anterolaterally on each side of segment 7. Described from a single female from Yahuaramayo, Peru.

A single male type (USNM 8612) from Maroni River, French Guiana, is designated in the original description. Holotype cf: "Collection Wm. Schaus, 60 m. up Maroni River; Type No. W. 1967; Arctiidae genitalia slide No. 5 mm. Head greyish yellow. Thorax greyish yellow; each tegula with central black spot. Forewing greyish yellow, with darker speckles, especially along veins. Hindwing light yellow; slightly translucent in and around cell. Dorsal surface of abdomen light yellow; ventral surface greyish yellow.

Watson 1967; Arctiidae genitalia slide No. " Opharus linus Druce PLATES 18C; 101C Opharus linus Druce, 1897, p. 382. 0 mm. Front of head discolored, vertex pale orange. Tegulae pale orange, with orange anterior margin. Patagia greyish brown, with pale yellow dorsolateral fringe. Forewing light greyish brown. Hindwing very light greyish brown. Dorsal surface of abdomen light greyish brown medially (except for posterior part of segment 7, which is pale orange), pale orange laterally; ventral surface light greyish brown, with pale yellow tail fringe.
